Privacy Policy
This policy covers axleno.com and Bytewell, by Axleno LLC (Wyoming, USA). Other Axleno products (such as Hanuq and Kobiqo) have their own privacy policies on their websites.
Bytewell
- Your files stay on your Mac. Scans, history, your Keep list and the Undo journal are stored only on your Mac, in its Application Support folder.
- No analytics, no tracking, no account. Bytewell does not collect usage data.
- Offline license. Your license key is checked on your Mac. While a license is entered, Bytewell downloads a public list of cancelled license keys (refunds, keys shared online) from license.axleno.com about once a week. That request sends nothing about you, your license or your Mac beyond what any web request includes (such as your IP address), and nothing is logged against your license.
- Software updates. Once a day Bytewell checks updates.axleno.com for a new version. The request contains only the Bytewell and macOS version numbers (plus what any web request includes, such as your IP address); no hardware or usage profile is sent. You can turn the check off in Bytewell › Settings › Updates. Updates are signed by Axleno and verified on your Mac before they're installed.
- AI assistants. If you connect an AI assistant, it can read the scan results you ask it about (such as folder names and sizes). What that assistant does with them is governed by its provider's privacy policy.
Purchases
When you buy Bytewell Pro, our payment provider, Stripe, processes your payment and shares with us your name, email address and order details, which we use to issue your license key and to provide support. We send the key to that email address through our email delivery provider, Resend, which receives only the address and the message itself. If you sign in to Bytewell with your email, the app sends that address once to license.axleno.com, which emails your license to it if there is a purchase — it never says whether there was. We never see or store your full card details. Purchase records are kept as long as needed for your license, support, and legal and tax obligations.
This website
axleno.com uses no analytics or advertising cookies. It is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes basic technical data (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and protect the site. The site loads its typeface from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font is requested.
If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the personal data we hold about you, or to stop processing it, by emailing [email protected]. Depending on where you live (for example the EU, UK, Turkey or California), you may have additional rights under local law, including the right to complain to a data-protection authority.
